DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, August 26\, 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nMANITOGA / The Russel Wright Design Center in Garrison\, NY presents and interprets Manitoga as the Wrights’ inspiration and design achievement as a leading center for innovative and sustainable design\, architecture\, and landscape. \nJoin the Carriage Barn for a group guided tour of MANITOGA\, the House\, Studio and Woodland Garden of pioneer industrial designer\, Russel Wright (1904-1976). Experience Dragon Rock\, the experimental home which Wright built onto the rock ledge of an abandoned quarry while masterfully orchestrating the surrounding landscape into a series of outdoor rooms of varying character and delight.  After the guided tour we'll enjoy a picnic lunch on the grounds.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFollow the upper Quarry path\, enjoying stunning views of the Quarry Pool\, House and Studio. SUMMARY:Encaustic Collage Workshop with Carolyn Childs
DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY\, AUGUST 28 from 10am-Noon: \nCome discover and create using the encaustic art medium in this engaging workshop led by Carolyn Childs. Step into a warm\, supportive space and explore the magic of painting with wax—perfect for curious beginners and experienced artists alike. \nEncaustic is an ancient painting technique where pure beeswax is blended with resin and pigment\, then applied in layers. Each layer is fused with heat\, creating rich texture\, depth\, and a luminous finish. In this hands-on experience\, you’ll learn to work confidently with heated tools and pigmented wax to create expressive\, one-of-a-kind artwork. \nParticipants will explore a variety of techniques using a hot iron\, while also incorporating collage elements—layering found or created imagery and materials beneath translucent wax to create beautifully textured mixed-media pieces. You’ll have the opportunity to work on multiple small surfaces\, and one of your finished pieces can be displayed in a Lucite frame (included in the class fee). \nThis workshop is designed to be both creative and restorative. Come with curiosity\, relax into the process\, and enjoy a unique artistic escape. \nCome explore\, create\, and unwind—one luminous layer at a time. \n$ 75 Members / $90 Non Members \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n \n \n Encaustic Collage Workshop with Carolyn Childs 8/28/26\n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Address \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n AlabamaAlaskaAmerican SamoaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaNorthern Mariana IslandsOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahU.S. Virgin IslandsVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingArmed Forces AmericasArmed Forces EuropeArmed Forces Pacific\n State\n \n \n ZIP Code\n \n \n Phone*Email*\n \n Encaustic Collage Workshop / Member Quantity\n \n \n Price:\n $75.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Encaustic Collage Workshop / Non Member Quantity\n \n \n Price:\n $90.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Total\n \n Payment MethodCredit CardPayPal Checkout\n American ExpressMasterCardVisaSupported Credit Cards: American Express\, MasterCard\, Visa\n \n Card Number\n \n \n \n Expiration Date\n \n \n                                                 \n Security Code\n \n \n \n Cardholder Name\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

SUMMARY:Orientalism at The Met: Guided Tour with Dr. Page Knox
DESCRIPTION:Guided Tour: Tuesday\, September 1 at 1:30pm\n\n\nJoin us for a guided tour with art historian and professor Page Knox exploring ORIENTALISM: Between Fact and Fantasy\, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Page will offer an in-depth experience of The Met's first exhibition to explore Orientalism as its central focus -- presenting not only easel paintings but also drawings\, photographs\, illustrated books\, architecture\, arms and armor\, textiles\, garments\, glassware\, ceramics\, and metalwork.    \nThe word Orient is derived from the Latin Oriens\, which means the direction of the rising sun—the east. Orientalism: Between Fact and Fantasy explores notions of “the East” in the 19th century\, when globalism\, shaped by colonialism and imperialism\, fueled unprecedented encounters\, connections\, and exchanges in Europe and the Middle East. “Hard power” mingled with “soft power\,” as accelerated travel\, rapid technological change\, and shifting geopolitics hastened artistic exchange between distant regions and different cultures. \nBeginning with Napoleon’s conquest of Egypt in 1798 and culminating in the paintings of Ottoman renaissance man Osman Hamdi Bey\, this exhibition tells the story of how Islamic works of art made their way to European dealers\, collectors\, international expositions\, and museums\, introducing a new visual language to artists\, architects\, and designers. Deep admiration for the sophisticated techniques and visual language of Islamic art led Owen Jones and other influential figures to transform architecture and design in Europe and America. \nNote that you may also sign up to join a virtual lecture and exhibition preview with Page via zoom  on Tuesday\, August 18 at 6:30pm.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Guided Tour at The Met with Page Knox (9/1/26)\n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Address(Required) \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n \n State / Province / Region\n \n \n ZIP / Postal Code\n \n \n Phone(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Visit to the Met with Page Knox (current members) QuantityNumber of Carriage Barn member attendees\n \n \n Price:\n $70.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Visit to the Met with Page Knox (non-members) QuantityNumber of non-Carriage Barn member attendees\n \n \n Price:\n $85.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Names of Additional Attendees (optional)Payment Method(Required)Credit Card\n American ExpressMasterCardVisaSupported Credit Cards: American Express\, MasterCard\, Visa\n \n Card Number\n \n \n \n Expiration Date\n \n \n                                                 \n Security Code\n \n \n \n Cardholder Name\n Total\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

Deep admiration for the sophisticated techniques and visual language of Islamic art led Owen Jones and other influential figures to transform architecture and design in Europe and America.  \nThis is a great opportunity to get a comprehensive overview of the exhibit\, so that when you visit on your own\, you will do so with a deeper understanding and greater appreciation of the works.   \nNote that you may also sign up to join an in-person guided tour of the exhibition with Page Knox on Tuesday\, September 1 at 1:30pm (space is limited).   \nMembers $20 | Non-Members $30 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Orientalism at The Met: An Zoom Lecture with Page Knox (9/8/26)\n Virtual tour and lecture on Tuesday\, September 8 at 6:30pm \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Address \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n AlabamaAlaskaAmerican SamoaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaNorthern Mariana IslandsOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahU.S. Virgin IslandsVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingArmed Forces AmericasArmed Forces EuropeArmed Forces Pacific\n State\n \n \n ZIP Code\n \n \n Email*\n \n Raphael: An In Depth Zoom Lecture\, Member QuantityEnter Number of Member Attendees\n \n \n Price:\n $20.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Raphael: An In Depth Zoom Lecture\, Non-Member QuantityEnter Number of Non-Member Attendees\n \n \n Price:\n $30.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Total\n \n Payment MethodCredit CardPayPal Checkout\n American ExpressMasterCardVisaSupported Credit Cards: American Express\, MasterCard\, Visa\n \n Card Number\n \n \n \n Expiration Date\n \n \n                                                 \n Security Code\n \n \n \n Cardholder Name\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

involve acrylic paint and other messy materials\, so dress accordingly \n$185 for Family Level Members per 4-week session / $210 for Non-Members(All supplies included.) \nCancellation Policy – Refunds SUMMARY:After School Art Adventures\, Fall 2026
DESCRIPTION:For Children Ages K–5\, Thursdays\, September 17th & 24th\, October 1 & 8\, from 4-5pm \nDon’t wait to sign up for this popular after-school art program led by local teacher “Ms. Tiffany” McKay. This series\, we will dive into the world of Cyrus Kabiru. Kabiru is a Kenyan artist best known for creating imaginative wearable sculptures from recycled materials\, transforming everyday discarded objects into bold works of art that celebrate creativity\, sustainability\, and self-expression. \nWith Mrs. McKay’s guidance\, children will dive into the creative process by using different materials to create their own unique piece inspired by Kabiru’s inventive approach. This hands-on experience not only fosters creativity but also teaches valuable lessons in collaboration and artistic expression. \nNo experience necessary! \n– Class is limited to 10 children– Classes involve acrylic paint and other messy materials\, so dress accordingly \n$185 for Family Level Members per 4-week session / $210 for Non-Members(All supplies included.) \nCancellation Policy – Refunds can be issued if requested more than 2 weeks before the class starts\, minus a $20 processing fee. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n SUMMARY:Create & Gild: Decorative Tray Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this three hour workshop led by an instructor from the renowned Isabel O'Neil studio in NYC\, students are guided through the process of gilding using variegated metallic leaf.   \nParticipants will created customized monogrammed trays to take home the same day. \nAll supplies will be provided. \n$225 per person / Pls register below \nClass will be limited to ten participants.  \nIsabel O’Neil opened her eponymous Studio in 1955. A visionary teacher\, conservator\, and inventor in the field of decorative arts\, once called\, “the grande dame of American painted finishes\,” by House & Garden magazine\, she inspired many students to dedicate themselves to the continued teaching and preservation of the art and craft of the painted finish.   \nToday master artisan-teachers at the Isabel O’Neil Studio carry on the legacy of Isabel by guiding students through a traditional journeyman guild system that encourages creative innovation.  \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n \n \n Create and Gild: Decorative Tray Workshop 10/14/26\n Registration for Create and Gild: Decorative Tray Workshop 10/14/26 \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Address \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n AlabamaAlaskaAmerican SamoaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaNorthern Mariana IslandsOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahU.S. Virgin IslandsVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingArmed Forces AmericasArmed Forces EuropeArmed Forces Pacific\n State\n \n \n ZIP Code\n \n \n Phone*Email*\n \n Create and Gild: Decorative Tray Workshop QuantityEnter number of Attendees\n \n \n Price:\n $225.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Total\n \n Payment MethodCredit CardPayPal Checkout\n American ExpressMasterCardVisaSupported Credit Cards: American Express\, MasterCard\, Visa\n \n Card Number\n \n \n \n Expiration Date\n \n \n                                                 \n Security Code\n \n \n \n Cardholder Name\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

Newark’s American art collection ranks among the finest in the nation\, with exceptional holdings spanning from the colonial period and Hudson River School to the present day. Audiences will experience iconic paintings including Georgia O’Keeffe’s White Flower on Red Earth\, No. 1\, Edward Hopper’s The Sheridan Theatre\, portraits by John Singer Sargent and Mickalene Thomas\, luminous landscapes by Albert Bierstadt and Marsden Hartley\, and powerful sculptures by Alexander Calder\, Louise Nevelson\, and Martin Puryear. \nCoinciding with the nation’s 250th anniversary\, American Stories is organized into four sections—Identity\, Belonging\, Belief\, and Making—themes that reveal how artists shape our understanding of America\, past and present. A full year of dynamic programming will include in-gallery performances by dancers\, musicians\, and writers\, as well as panel discussions and lectures by thought leaders highlighting fresh perspectives on American art and culture. \nThis exhibition was organized collaboratively by the Bruce Museum and The Newark Museum of Art. \n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease meet at the Bruce Museum\, 1 Museum Drive\, Greenwich by 10:50am. \nCost: $65 for Carriage Barn members | $80 for non-membersIncludes lunch.  Register below.
