Modern Calligraphy Series, Sundays

Modern Calligraphy Series
Foundational Pointed Pen Calligraphy
Wednesdays: January 14, 21, 28; February 4 — 9:30–11:30 AM
Sundays: January 18, 25; February 1, 8 — 4:00–6:00 PM
This series is designed for students who would like to learn pointed pen calligraphy in a calm, supportive setting. The focus is on building a strong technical base through a slow, mindful approach to practice.
Participants will learn to write with a pointed pen, develop letter rhythm, and compose phrases with balance and confidence — skills that can be applied to everyday moments such as addressing envelopes, signing cards, and creating handwritten details for gatherings and personal events.
Classes move at a thoughtful pace, with each session building on the previous one to support steady, intentional progress. The series is offered in two identical formats — Wednesdays or Sundays — covering the same material and progression. Participants may enroll in either series.
If a class is missed, it may be made up by attending the corresponding session with the other group, subject to availability. Students who would like additional practice are also welcome to attend individual sessions with the other group.
Because the classes are sequential and connected, registration is required for the full series. Drop-in classes are available only as additional practice for students enrolled in the series.
Suitable for beginners and anyone seeking a creative practice that combines focus, beauty, and practical use.
All materials provided.
Dina Ruzha is a local illustrator, calligrapher, and lettering artist who tells stories through bold characters, expressive letterforms, and color palettes that stop the scroll.
She specializes in book covers for romance, romcom, romantasy, and YA — with a particular love for illustrated characters paired with custom hand-drawn titles. Her focus is always on color, emotion, and composition so that each cover not only stands out beautifully but also connects instantly with the right readers.
Beyond illustration, she is deeply passionate about calligraphy. Her work has been exhibited at the United Nations, where she was honored to perform live calligraphy and speak as part of their cultural programming. She also shares this craft through workshops, helping people discover the beauty of the written word and even creating custom commissions like family trees and marriage certificates.
