Madera Winds, established in 2012, is comprised of five musicians, Ralph Kirmser (oboe), Janet Atherton (clarinet) John Harley (horn), Jan van den Berg (flute), and Danielle Stopek (bassoon) who each have extensive experience performing chamber music with other groups in Fairfield for over 30 years. Recently, they performed at the Wilton Library to a packed room of fans. The Carriage Barn Arts Center is excited to include them in our 2014 event program.
On October 5th they will perform Pastoral by Vincent Persichetti, and Aires Tropicales by Paquito D’Rivera: Alborada, Son, Habanera, Vals Venezolano, Contradanza, Afro. Then after a short intermission they will finish up their concert with Quintet for Winds by August Klughardt: Allegro non troppo and Allegro vivace, Mississippi Five by Jim Parker; King Oliver Steps Out, Blues for Johnny Dobbs, The River Queen, Le Tombeau De Bessie Smith, and Les Animaux.
