Exhibitions at the Carriage Barn

Each year the New Canaan Society for the Arts presents Exhibitions featuring talented local artists – from students to amateurs to award-wining professionals. We are proud to showcase their work in the Betty Barker Gallery — and to share their success. We are grateful to the sponsors who make these prizes possible.

THE 32nd ANNUAL PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

The 32nd Annual Photography Exhibition (January 22 – February 19, 2012) was juried by Joan Fitzsimmons, award winning photographer and educator.  The prizes were sponsored by the New Canaan Society for the Arts and The Barbara Benton Davis Fund at The Fairfield County Community Foundation.

SPECTRUM 2011

Spectrum is the Carriage Barn’s major juried event for painting, drawing, graphics and sculpture (February 6 – March 6, 2011). The juror this year was Paul Clabby, Director and Curator of Exhibitions, John Slade Ely House, Center for Contemporary Art, New Haven, CT.

The Best in Show prize was sponsored by Deborah and Frank Haines. Other generous prize sponsors included: Halstead Realty, Handwright Gallery, Karl Chevrolet, New Canaan Alarm, New Canaan Foreign Car, Printers Inc, and Walter Stewart’s Market.

The 31st Annual Photography Exhibition (February 6 – March 6, 2011) was juried by Susan G. Hammond, Executive Director of the National Association of Women Artists and an award-winning photographer. The prizes were sponsored by the Board of Trustees of the New Canaan Society for the Arts.
