ART SHOP: A fun exploration of all kinds of media using examples from Art History as a springboard for the creative process. Children will learn traditional art-making methods such as drawing and painting and experiment with mixing media and non-traditional art materials. Students will work with oil pastel, paint, paper mache, wood, wire, and cardboard to create 2D and 3D artworks. Weekly classes will be held at the Carriage Barn Arts Center centrally located in Waveny Park. In early fall, class time will include “en plein-air” drawing in the park. Old clothing or wearing a smock is recommended.
Instructor: Lydia Viscardi, Betty Barker Gallery Exhibitions Director and Curator has taught Studio Art and Art History to children and adults for many years. She currently teaches Studio Art at Quinnipiac University and Housatonic Community College, and her own artwork is widely exhibited in museums and galleries.
