Guggenheim Guided Group Tour
Friday, January 27th at 11:30am
Join us for a Carriage Barn guided group tour of Alex Katz: Gathering at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Don’t miss this opportunity to view this acclaimed retrospective with a Guggenheim docent before it closes in February!
Staged in the city where Katz has lived and worked his entire life, and prepared with the close collaboration of the artist, this retrospective fills the museum’s Frank Lloyd Wright rotunda. Encompassing paintings, oil sketches, collages, drawings, prints, and freestanding “cutout” works, the exhibition begins with the artist’s intimate sketches of riders on the New York City subway from the late 1940s and culminates in the rapturous, immersive landscapes that have dominated his output in recent years.
Please meet the group on the 9:38am train from New Canaan to GCT or in the Guggenheim Museum lobby [1071 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY – between 88th and 89th Streets] by 11:25am. Tour is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Let us know if you are interested in an optional group lunch following the museum visit.
Cost: $55 for members and/or seniors (65+) / $70 for non-members
(does not include transportation or optional lunch) – Sign up below. Space is limited to 15.
Please note registration and payment for this program is non-refundable. In the event you must cancel, we will consider your purchase a donation and will happily issue you a donation receipt.
