On the evening of Monday, May 13th, Sue Stone, New Canaan resident, will present a lecture and slide show on Toulouse Lautrec; Artifice, Escapism and Decadence in Paris at the Turn of the Century.  The event begins with a wine reception at 6:30 pm followed by Ms. Stone’s presentation.

Ms. Stone has a Master’s in French Language and Civilization from New York University and will be presenting this lecture to coincide with an exceptional exhibit, Toulouse-Lautrec & His World, at the New Britain Museum of American Art, that runs through May 12th.  Seen for the first time outside Europe, this unusually comprehensive exhibit begins its U.S. tour in New Britain, Connecticut.

Ms. Stone’s presentation will include discussion of the historical and cultural context in which Lautrec created his innovative and avant-garde artworks, along with a slideshow.

Reservation is suggested for the lecture. Suggested donations are $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Donations may be made online via PayPal or at the lecture.
