Edward Spaulding DeVoe “Creative Realism – Minotaur in the Labyrinth”

Wednesday,  April 10, 2013

Wine reception 6:30 pm followed by a lively presentation and talk by Edward Spaulding DeVoe.

Acclaimed artist, Edward Spaulding DeVoe will present a lecture and Q&A, on “Creative Realism”.  In this lecture, Mr. DeVoe will explore the elements of creative realism from the earliest cave paintings to the sophisticated techniques of the Masters.  According to DeVoe, “Creative Realism is the ability to see and render the world around you with your unique vision. Most people look and do not see. What distinguishes an artist is her/his ability to absorb the world and transform it into something original.”

Mr. DeVoe is acclaimed for the authenticity of his techniques. He is recognized for his unique ability to “create modern paintings with the qualities of the Renaissance Masters.”  Mr. DeVoe taught landscape painting for over a decade in the heart of the Hudson River’s greatest scenery at The United States Military Academy, West Point, and in 2011 he was Artist-in-Residence at the luxury resort Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, where many of his works remain on display.

Many of DeVoe’s works can be found in private and corporate collections both domestically and abroad.  Corporate collections containing works by Ed DeVoe include the Ritz Carlton, Reader’s Digest and Boerhinger Ingelheim Corporation.
