What is Make Music Day?

Make Music Day is a global celebration of music held on June 21st.

Diverging from traditional music festivals, Make Music Day welcomes participants from all walks of life. Musicians ranging from amateurs to professionals come together in streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers.

This event is free of charge and open to the public.

How did Make Music Day Start?

Originating in France in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique. It is now observed in over 1,000 cities across 120 countries.

In 2023, the inaugural Make Music New Canaan event was organized by the non-profit 501(c)3 organization, The Carriage Barn Arts Center, located in Waveny Park, New Canaan.

This year, The Carriage Barn Arts Center is partnering with the New Canaan Library to bring Make Music Day to New Canaan.
