Be swept away by captivating dance performances that explore themes of love, loss, and desire. The Tango is believed to have emerged from the fusion of various cultural influences, including African, European, and indigenous traditions in the working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the late 19th century. Initially considered scandalous, today it is celebrated worldwide for its elegance, and emotional expression.
We welcome performers from the Bodies Never Lie dance company, comprised of professionals from Joffrey Ballet New York and principals from the esteemed Dance Theatre of Harlem for this special event. Set to recordings of music by acclaimed Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla and the mesmerizing Buenos Aires sensation, Gotan Project.
During the break, guests are welcome to join a lively group tango lesson led by Jessica Ruhlin, a teacher from New York City Ballet and Carriage Barn Member Manager.
Former ballerina and Carriage Barn member, Barbara Simonson, will capture the dancers and audience in watercolor and pencils during the show, available for purchase following the performance.
Argentinian wine tasting with The Red Grape at 5:30pm, dance performance begins at 6pm.
Tickets $35 / Children 16 & under $25
