Kenneth Silver, PhD presents Connecticut Modern: Art, Design & the Avant-Garde, 1930-1960, with an introduction by architect Robert Dean.
Reception at 6:30pm co-hosted with Inger Stringfellow of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty and Rob Dean of Robert Dean Architects.
At 7pm, Silver will discuss the significance of Connecticut’s place in the 20th century as an international hub for innovation in the arts, architecture and design.
Presented in conjunction with New Canaan’s October4Design initiative, the lecture coincides with Silver’s exhibition of the same name on view at the Bruce Museum through January 7, 2024.
Professor Silver currently serves as the Silver Professor of Art History at NYU, Adjunct Curator of Art at the Bruce Museum, and Guest Curator at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. He has also held distinguished appointments at the Guggenheim Museums in New York and Bilboa; The Jewish Museum, NY; Musée d’Art Moderne Moderne de la Ville de Paris; and the Parrish Museum, Southampton, NY. Silver has been published extensively and authored several art history books and exhibition catalogues.
