Encaustic is a method of painting with wax. The pure beeswax is mixed with resin and pigments. Each layer of wax is melted and fused with heat to the substrate. Carolyn uses careful management of heat and manipulation of the hot tools to create these sublime scenes.
In recognition of her talent and unique perspective, Carolyn Childs’ work has been prominently featured in renowned art spaces and galleries. She was featured in our local; The Darien Times, Geary Gallery, UCBC, and Everything is Rosey. She has upcoming shows at 5AM Art Studio in Norwalk, and Monster Art Studio in Norwalk. Additionally, she has two solo shows booked locally in Stamford and New Cannan for 2025.
Carolyn Childs is a Connecticut native and Darien mom. She is a certified K-12 art teacher, has a BFA in Creative Arts Therapy, and an MA in Art Education Leadership, with a focus on mindfulness and art.
