Winter Break Design Camp with Dina Ruzha (Ages 10+)

Winter Break Design Camp (Ages 10+)
February 17–20 | Tuesday–Friday | 9:30 AM–12:00 PM
This hands-on Design Camp introduces children to design as a way of thinking — not just drawing. Over four mornings, students will work on two complete creative projects that combine imagination, structure, and problem-solving.
Project 1: Create a Book
Students will design and hand-build their own hardcover book from scratch. They will learn how a book is structured — cover, spine, endpapers, title page, chapters — and create a finished book with 10 designed spreads using drawing, collage, and typography. Each child chooses their own theme, such as food, travel, or personal interests.
Project 2: Branding & Packaging
Students will step into the role of designers by creating a small brand. They will invent a name, design a logo, and apply it across different formats — for example, a café concept with custom coffee cup designs, or a clothing brand with original graphics for tote bags and T-shirts, all developed in line with the brand idea.
Throughout the camp, students learn how ideas turn into visual systems, how design communicates meaning, and how to present a finished project.
Why this camp?
- Develops creative and critical thinking
- Encourages independence and confidence in decision-making
- Introduces real design processes in an age-appropriate way
- Each student leaves with two complete design projects
