Curatorial Statement from Abby Bangser:  This selection is a celebration of women of various ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities – some captured from life, and others imagined – who represent female power in a myriad of manifestations. While ranging in media, each work shares a strong sense of authorship and emotional resonance. Female power is expressed as a woman dancing, laughing, or engaging in a contemplative moment. There are teachers, mothers, and students. Throughout the presentation there is a sense of intimacy between the artist and subject that permeates these works and allows for narratives to be drawn out by the viewer. This emphasis on the joys and struggles of womanhood is foregrounded in the selection and showcases the many life experiences of these artists.

LiveGirl Benefit Event: Sunday, May 31 | 2-4pm
A virtual celebration of female power and the arts, featuring activist artist, TL Duryea, completing a live masterpiece. Plus, TL will preview the art collection, including New Orleans pop art phenomenon, Ashley Longshore. This special Zoom event will also feature Fran Hauser – media executive, startup investor, and best-selling author of The Myth of the Nice Girl.
