She has translated her signature aesthetic and sophisticated color sense into a global business producing innovative textiles and wall coverings for more than thirty years. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, La Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The recipient of more than twenty-five prestigious design awards, her work is featured regularly in the media, including Elle Decor, Architectural Digest and the New York Times. She lives in New York City.
Ode to Color: The Ten Essential Palettes for Living and Design, presents Lori’s ten distinct color worlds through an intimate and often kaleidoscopic perspective, a compilation of the numerous—and often shifting—associations and emotions we assign to a color or group of colors. Each chapter combines diverse imagery—evocative fine art and photography, environmental interiors, details of Weitzner’s gorgeous designs as well as her sketches and watercolors—with excerpts from literature and her own essays on a wide array of topics relating to the palette.
Color has a huge impact upon our decision making, our moods, and our tastes and Ode to Color beautifully illustrates how to use these color worlds as a tool to enhance our lives. Graphic and fine artists, interior designers and decorators, architects, and anyone interested in art, design, fashion, pop culture, and spiritual discovery will find inspiration in this book.
