TOUR OF NYBG KUSAMA: COSMIC NATURE

NEW 2021 DATE:
Wednesday, May 19 from 10am-2pm
Program Full: waitlist only, email [email protected]

Be one of the first to experience this multisensory presentation of the work of internationally celebrated Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.  At the NYBG, Kusama reveals her lifelong fascination with the natural world, beginning with her childhood spent in greenhouses and fields of her family’s seed nursery.  Her artistic concepts of obliteration, infinity, and eternity are inspired by her intimate engagement with colors, patterns, and life cycles of plants and flowers.

The Carriage Barn group will enjoy a guided tour with a NYBG docent, tram transportation through the gardens, lunch and access to Kusama’s Illusion Inside the Heart Infinity Mirror Room.

Spectacular installations feature Kusama’s multifaceted art, including monumental floral sculptures that transform NYBG’s 250-acre landmark landscape. New monumental sculptures Dancing Pumpkin (2020) and I Want to Fly to the Universe (2020) make their debut in the NYBG landscape, joining the artist’s first-ever obliteration greenhouse, Flower Obsession.

$105/members or $125/non-members. Includes guided group tour, tram transportation through NYBG, access to Infinity Mirror Room and lunch. Meet at 10am at the New York Botanical Gardens entrance, or indicate below if you are interested in transportation to/from the Carriage Barn.
