Michael-Louis Smith, widely known as a jazz instrumentalist and composer, got his start as a young teenager singing the songs of Robert Hunter and Bob Dylan in places such as Caffe Lena in upstate New York.  Inspired by a live performance of the band on his 14th Birthday at Madison Square Garden In 1991, he credits Garcia and the Dead among his earliest and most potent inspirations to become a musician.  Smith will be joined by longtime friend and collaborator Ismail Lawal on drums, electric bass virtuoso Mike Roninson, Marcus John Schelgel on keyboards/vocals, and Peter Carucci on Rhythm guitar/vocals .

David Gans is an American musiciansongwriter, and music journalist. He is a guitarist, and is known for incisive, literate songwriting. He is also noted for his music loop work, often creating spontaneous compositions in performance. He is the co-author of the book Playing in the Band: An Oral and Visual Portrait of the Grateful Dead, and the host of the weekly syndicated radio show The Grateful Dead Hour. He currently co-hosts a radio show with Gary Lambert on Sirius XM’s The Grateful Dead Channel called Tales from the Golden Road, a call-in show about the Grateful Dead.
