Photography Demonstration and Artists’ Talk 2013

March 3rd, 11:30 am – 4:00 pm  scheduled throughout the afternoon.  Free and open to the public.

11:30 am Every Day Enchantment

Presenter:  Carrie Brady

Level: Enthusiast

This presentation will focus on how to see and preserve extraordinary images in ordinary life.  Techniques to be discussed include using exposure compensation, panning on stationary objects, and serendipitous photography. 

Participants bring:  Copy of their favorite ”real” image – not substantially altered by a photo-editing program.

 

12:30 pm Fine Art Printing and Mounting

Presenter: Colin Harrison

Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Printing visitors images on Hahnemueller PhotoRag paper (5×7″), followed by dry mounting with a press on foamcore (8×10″). This demonstration might include some Photoshop cleanup but is mainly about manual skills.  

Participants bring:  Image files on thumb drives.  Participants take away: Printed and mounted images.

 

1:30 pm iPhone Photography and Working With Apps

Presenter:  Dutch Doscher

Level:  All levels welcome

How to take better iPhone photos – lifting your photos to the next level and make people say WOW!  Demonstration includes the best iPhone apps, explaining the complicated ones and better framing.

Participants bring:  iPhone and be ready to download some apps.

3:30pm  Analog photography demonstration

Presenter:  Yee-Fun Yin

Levels: All levels welcome.

This presentation will cover the operation of a large format camera, as well as composing a photograph with one. If someone volunteers to model, then we will actually shoot a few pictures.

Participants bring: a desire to make better photographs.
